Terms of Service

Draft — review before publishing. Written in plain language to be accurate about how Medusa actually works. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer. Check that the operator name below matches your legal name exactly as Stripe has it.
These terms cover your use of Medusa at knowmymusic.app. By creating an account or uploading a track, you agree to them.
Medusa is operated by Maryann Clark, a sole proprietor in Alberta, Canada. In these terms, "we" and "us" mean that person, and "you" means the person using the service.
1. What Medusa does
Medusa analyzes audio you upload and produces a written analysis and a one-sheet about that recording. It is an informational tool. It does not submit your music to anyone, represent you, or arrange placements.
2. Your account
You sign in with a link sent to your email address — there is no password to manage. Keep access to that inbox secure, since anyone who can read it can sign in as you. You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live.
3. Your music stays yours
You keep every right you had in anything you upload. You give Medusa permission to store and process your audio only so far as is needed to run the analysis and show you the results. We do not sell your recordings, license them to anyone, publish them, or use them to train machine-learning models.
4. What you upload
Only upload audio you own or have permission to use. Do not upload anything unlawful, or anything you are not entitled to hand to a third-party service for processing.
5. Third-party processing
Analysis runs partly through Google's Gemini API, which means your audio and lyrics are sent to Google for processing. This is core to how the product works, and there is no way to use Medusa without it. See the Privacy Policy for detail.
6. Credits and payment
Your first analysis is free. After that, analyses are paid for with credits bought in packs. One credit covers one track. Credits do not expire. Payments are processed by Stripe; Medusa never sees or stores your card details. Refunds are covered in the Refund Policy.
7. What the analysis is and isn't
The measurements are computed from your audio and are as accurate as the file you give us. The interpretation — the read, the comparisons, the suggested audiences — is generated by a language model. It is a well-informed opinion, not a fact, and not professional advice.
No promises about outcomes. Medusa cannot and does not guarantee that using it will lead to a sync placement, a signing, playlist adds, streams, or any other commercial result. Anyone promising that is not being straight with you.
8. Availability
Medusa is a small, actively developed product. Features may change, and there may be downtime. We will not intentionally remove access to analyses you have already paid for without giving you a reasonable chance to export them.
9. Ending things
You can stop using Medusa and ask us to delete your account and files at any time by emailing info@knowmymusic.app. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms — most often meaning uploading material the person had no right to upload.
10. Liability and governing law
Medusa is provided as-is. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited. These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
11. Changes
If these terms change materially, we will say so by email or in the app before the change takes effect.
